Day at the Monastery

A common question is, "What do the members of Companions of Christ do each day?" or "What's a day like for those at the Monastery?"

Since we are a monastic community we live by a Rule of Life which helps to order our days. As Old Catholics, the Eucharist (or Lord's Supper) is the point and summit of our worship and so we celebrate Mass daily. Each day includes time for work, prayer and study, and recreation. Below is a general outline of what a typical day might be like at the Monastery.

7am - Community Breakfast
7:45am - Matins (Morning Prayer) followed by Mass
8:45am - Work
Noon - Diurnal (Mid-Day Prayer)
12:30 - Community Lunch
1:30pm - Work
5pm - Vespers (Evening Prayer)
5:45pm - Community Meal
After meal, is free time.
8pm - Compline (Night Prayers)

Do you feel like you don't fit in anywhere? Do you struggle with the humdrum of a 8-5 job, feeling like you never get anywhere? Does prayer and reflection on a daily basis bring you joy?
