First, we should explain that we don't have members. We have Disciples. One becomes a Disciple by several steps. The first step is to talk to the Pastor and to enroll in our OC101 (Old Catholic 101) Class.
St. Francis Old Catholic Church welcomes people from any faith tradition who are seeking a church home. If you have been worshiping at another church, you can write to your former church for a formal "letter of transfer." For others, the usual way to formally join our church is to be Baptized and Confirmed or Received by one of our Bishops. If you have already been Baptized then supplying that information to the church and then scheduling a date to be Confirmed or Received is all that is needed. If you are not ready for this formal step, please know that you are welcome to be a part of our church community.
We believe that every person who comes to worship with us is a special gift from God. We are all better off from you being here amongst us. We want to express the love we know in Jesus Christ with one another and we're excited to share it with you, and to grow together in our pilgrimage of faith.
St. Francis' is a place for all people - no matter where you may be on life's journey - and it won't take you long to discover that we are a vibrant and caring community of faith, each journeying from different places and life experiences, but who desire to grow together.
We are a people ultimately, of faith in Jesus Christ. In other words, relationships are paramount - especially when we consider our baptismal covenant, "to seek and serve Christ in all persons loving our neighbor as our self." Jesus taught us that this is the greatest commandment and that if we love our neighbor as ourselves then we will fulfill every single requirement God has for our lives.
